School Board Expands Early Learning with Universal Pre-K Approval

The St. Charles Parish unanimously approved a proposal to expand Pre-K access beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. Under the plan, Pre-K4 will be offered to all four-year-olds residing in St. Charles Parish at their neighborhood schools. While enrollment is not mandatory, any four-year-old child will be guaranteed a seat.

The plan also strengthens opportunities for three-year-olds. Both East Bank Head Start and Carver Early Learning Centers will transition to serving only Pre-K3 students, with up to five new classes planned.
